Man, Your Breath Stinks!

What’s the Stinkin’ Deal with Bad Breath?

There’s nothing quite like having persistent, chronic bad breath.

If you’ve tried breath mints, constant tooth brushing, gums, breath strips, mouthwashes and anything else you can get your hands on to combat your halitosis with little or no long-term results, the answer is clear – your oral bacteria is out of whack. Persistent, chronic bad breath

As if having breath that leaves you avoiding close contact with anyone isn’t bad enough, knowing its cause might be making you sick is enough to make your head spin.

Harmful bacteria in the mouth are the most common cause of chronic bad breath. These bad bacteria, which are known to burrow below the gum line and cause periodontal disease and gingivitis, emit foul-smelling gases called Volatile Sulfur Compounds (VSCs).

It’s because of this that many alcohol-based aim to eliminate 99.9-percent of all bacteria in the mouth. And in their very function lies their weakness – the key to controlling the bacteria is not in killing them. If it was, these mouthwashes would work better and no one would ever have to worry about morning breath or chronic bad breath.

Instead, the key to controlling bad breath is to restore the good bacteria that crowd out the VSC-producing bacteria. This can be done through the daily use of a simple oral care probiotic.  Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that act as natural antagonists to the more harmful bacteria in the body.

Literally hundreds of bacteria live in the mouth, but fewer than a handful of the natural residents are beneficial bacteria. Using an oral care probiotic boosts the presence of these healthy bacteria leaving breath fresher around-the-clock – even banishing morning breath!
