Set the Stage!

Making Brushing Easy for Kids

Oral care is important at all ages, but for young children, learning how to properly manage oral health is critical to a lifetime of healthy teeth.

Because young children must learn how to properly brush and floss their teeth before they should be allowed to do it on their own, it’s important to set them up for success.

If you think your kids are ready to tackle teeth brushing on their own, here are some things you can do to set the stage for their success as great brushers and flossers:

•    Make a picture schedule reminding your children of the steps involved in brushing and flossing, including how much toothpaste to use, when to use the water (and to turn the water off when not in use) and the basics on where to brush and for how long.

•    Place a stool in the bathroom so your children can reach everything they need, including the toothpaste, their toothbrushes, and, of course, tSet the Stage! Making Brushing Easy for Kidshe tap.

•    Make sure your kids have a good view of themselves in the mirror so they can see to brush every tooth surface.

•    Put a timer in the bathroom to help kids keep brushing for a full two minutes. Make sure they can set the timer by themselves, and if they are brushing by themselves, make sure you hear the timer going off before they start rinsing.

•    Keep dental floss in reach, and make sure it’s on your picture schedule so kids remember it’s important to floss once each day. Be sure you have taught them how to floss, and if they aren’t ready to do it themselves, make sure you do it for them. Flossing is an important way to remove food and bacteria from between the teeth.

•    Make sure they use their Evorakids oral care probiotics! This simple, final step helps balance the bacteria in childrens’ mouths helping to maintain oral care and keeping bad bacteria at bay.

Brushing teeth can be simple – and even fun! When you teach your children both the importance of good dental care habits and set the stage for successful brushing and flossing.
