Your Kitty Wants Something Nice in Her Stocking Too!

Tried and True Gifts For Your Favorite Lap Warmer

There’s something inherently fun in the ways cats play. Buy them a toy, they’ll ignore it. Throw the tag from the toy on the floor beside it? Instant fun.

Actually, if your cat is anywhere near a kittenish age, she’s probably too busy scaling your Christmas tree and pushing your favorite ornaments to the ground to notice she has her own stocking. If you haven’t figured out what your cat’s fave toys are to stuff his or her stockings, here are a few favorites of cats I’ve known over the years.

First I need to throw in a disclaimer. Kitties can be mischievous. They like to play with things that are definite choking hazards for cats.  One of my favorite kitties likes to play with the marbles owned by the little boys who love her so. And how many cats can bat around a balled up Post-it or receipt for hours? So, if you’re selecting non-traditional cat toys for your cat’s gifts this year, as always, keep safety in mind.

Make Their Dreams Come True!

Most kitties’ No. 1 dream: A way to sleep in the window with the most sunlight! If you live in an older home that has deep windowsills, you can skip right past this suggestion. Newer homes, however, tend to have slender windowsills. You can buy products that attach to the windowsill to make it a deeper place to either curl up or sprawl out, you can buy one of those carpet-covered towers that doubles as a good thing to scratch or you can make something of your own from scratch. Either way, get that cat a good, sunlit spot to nap in and she will be a happy girl.

What Your Kitten Wants In Her Stocking

Feathers!

Feathers! I know the saying is something about birds of a feather… but it turns out that almost no cat can – or will – turn down playing with a feather. Whether it’s attached to a springy plastic handle or you use a good, old fashioned peacock feather, most cats will jump for joy when playing with feathers.

Catnip!

If you don’t mind your cat racing around like she drank your coffee, let some stuffed mouse toys marinate in catnip for a few days. Cat nip makes some cats act like they’ve had too much caffeine while others look like they’ve just stepped off a cruise ship, mellow as mellow can be.

If you’re looking for healthy treats for kitty this winter, consider pet oral care probiotic sprinkles. These simple probiotic sprinkles will leave your cat’s breath kissing fresh while reducing the tooth stains common with again. Good-bye mouse breath! Hello sweet kisses!

Happy holidays to all of your favorite feline friends!
